This latest award adds to the timepiece’s win of ‘Best men’s watch’ at the 2021 GPHG awards. The Red Dot Design Awards were founded in 1955 and are internationally recognised as one of the most prestigious competitions in design.

The Hi-Beat White Birch SLGH005 was created to offer a fresh take on the brand’s philosophy, The Nature of Time.

The jury described the award-winning timepiece as: “with its two-dimensionality and the sensual play of light and shadow, this wristwatch succeeds in skillfully reflecting Grand Seiko’s philosophy. Its special feature is the structured dial, which is reminiscent of birch trees and refers to the location of the manufacture. The watch embodies a typical Japanese design that differs from European visual patterns. Based on the historical model, the watch has undergone an impressive evolution, yet appears unchanged and contemporary.”
